Abstract:
This case study deals with the growing significance of grooming future leaders in organisations. Efficient leaders are essential to motivate the employees and steer them towards a particular goal. Leaders are also crucial in coming up with innovative ideas that would benefit the organisation. Realising the requisite, most of the organisations are grooming their potential employees as future leaders. This is an advantage to the companies in one way as the leadership training and development would bring down the attrition rate in the companies. Infosys is one such company which benefitted by banking on the concept to a large extent. Infosys has also established a leadership institute exclusively for grooming its employees as future leaders. The Infosys style of grooming its future leaders has stood as a benchmark for other companies as well. However, sceptics inquire to what extent companies can benefit from grooming future leaders. However, the big question is what would be the nature of leadership required for a company like Infosys which belongs to the IT industry?

Pedagogical Objectives:

  • To discuss and debate on the need and importance of leadership and the nature of leadership required for an IT company, especially for Infosys
  • To understand how Infosys identifies employees with leadership potential
