Abstract:
This structured assignment is to accompany the case '308-330-1'. The abstract of the case is as follows: Tata Group is an Indian conglomerate founded by noted industrialist JRD Tata. It has a significant presence all over the world. In 2008 Tata Inc ranked 6th in the list of Boston Consulting Group's most innovative companies across the world. The main reason for this recognition was due to Tata designing the common man's car 'Nano', at an extremely affordable price. Companies across the globe are emerging as top-notch innovators to retain their position in the competitive world. Tata Motors' innovation metrics not only include a number of patents, but also focuses on increasing their revenue and providing something valuable for the betterment of society. Some innovative initiatives of Tata were the acquisition of the Anglo-Dutch steel making company 'Corus', and Tata Motor's acquisition of 'Jaguar and Land Rover'. These initiatives are expected to impart to Tata, the opportunity to expand its presence in the passenger car market beyond India and provide leverage against international competitors.
