Abstract:
This case study showcases the gripping story of a wealthy family that endorses a social change initiative and makes it a formidable success. Leigh Anne Tuohy, a wealthy lady, along with her family spearheads a social change initiative that totally transforms the life of Michael Oher (Michael), who would have otherwise led an uncertain life of a destitute. Not only do the Tuohys clothe and feed Michael, their benevolence makes him a superstar of American football. What makes the Tuohys take up this initiative? The case study provides an opportunity to debate on several sensitive issues – motivational factors for the social change agents, repercussions of racism, plight of the destitute and the possible role of social change agents in social upliftment.

The learning from the case study leads to the discussion of certain complex organisational issues – ensuring the success of change management programmes, talent management and career growth of people from the minorities.
