INTRODUCTION: In February 2021, Procter & Gamble (P&G) India (P&G India), a subsidiary of the US-based consumer goods company P&G , introduced a new inclusive parental leave policy ‘Share the Care’. This policy was an addition to the existing parental leave policy that included maternity leave of 26 weeks for birthing mothers and adoption leave of 26 weeks for primary caregivers. Before 2017, an adoptive parent was eligible to avail of 16 weeks of paid leave from the company. All other new parents, including new fathers or partners, could avail of paid leave of four weeks.
