Abstract: Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (IDFC) is the largest private sector development financial institution (DFI) in India. Post liberalisation of the banking sector, IDFC was created as a vehicle to channel private sector capital into commercially viable infrastructure projects. Since its inception it had many credits, including that of being a DFI with zero non-performing assets (NPAs). However, there was wide spread criticism that its lending operations had been too conservative and thus had failed to fulfill the infrastructure needs of the country. This raised curtains to the series of controlling battles made by the pro and anti nationalist activists to gain control over the new-age development bank.
