CNN: The Initial Years of Broadcasting Born in 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ted Turner (Turner) was a highly successful businessman in Atlanta. He had established Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) in the mid-1970s, which managed different Cable TV networks in USA. Turner nurtured a dream of launching an exclusive 24-hour news channel that would revolutionize the media world. Consequently, he negotiated with news veteran Reese Schoenfeld (Schoenfeld),who had by then developed the concept of 'all the news all the time' television...

Troubled Times: The Competition Concerns began for CNN after 1995 when the channel's growth rate of revenues stalled. Many of the advertisers withdrew their ads on the channel as they felt that CNN's audience was "too old" and "not as affluent" as could be found elsewhere. Also, Turner sold CNN to media giant Time Warner for $6.2 billion in 1995. Experts opined that Time Warner being a corporate giant with numerous interests would not give CNN the due attention. After the purchase, Ted Turner was made the Vice Chairman of the Time Warner Group....

The Challenges In June 2005,CNN celebrated its 25th year of existence as it unveiled many more changes to the network. Jonathan Klein, CNN's president announced that before anything there would be an evaluation of CNN's programmes. Further, he added one hour broadcasting of international news fromone of CNN's sister channels to the midday schedule of CNN News channel. Jonathan Klein also worked on the 3 to 6 p.m. time slot and planned to do awaywith programmes such as Crossfire and Inside Politic. Crossfire, the long running programme on CNN had lost viewership after the host was replaced...
